Our in-depth guide on responsible investment
The value of your investments and the income from them may go down as well as up, and you could get back less than you invested.
Responsible investment involves thinking about environmental, social and governance (ESG) issues whilst pursuing financial goals as an investor and shareholder. Our booklet explains our four core principles, or pillars, of responsible investment and how we put them into practice. These four pillars are ESG integration, engagement with consequences, voting with purpose and transparency.

Votes Against Slavery report
Modern slavery is shockingly common across the world, with 25 million people in forced labour and 15 million in forced marriage according to the most recent authoritative figures from the Global Slavery Index. Our report outlines our 2021 work in the Votes Against Slavery campaign, which we set up in 2018 to challenge companies that haven’t met the requirements of the UK Modern Slavery Act. We look at the thinking behind how to stamp out slavery, and at a number of case studies. These include the story of Jack, who was tricked into modern slavery and then kept in servitude by coercion.
